What a way to start a game as visitors at Oracle! Giants bats woke up in a big way to support an excellent performance by Drew Smyly, and the ‘pen held on, giving Trevor Cahill a much needed win, despite giving up three. On AQI under 100 night, the Giants won 9-3.
The Brandons each hit a HR and Evan Longoria added one as the long ball once again brought us back to 0.500 baseball. But all the bats were awake, as Yaz picked up a couple of runs off a hit and a walk, Solano and Dickerson had extra base hits, and Crawford had a three-hit night.
With our eyes on the playoffs, today’s game is a battle of lefties with Tyler Anderson facing the Mariners’ Nick Margavicius. We’ve hit well against lefties and a sweep looks possible, since we battered Margivicius in his last outing. Giants won that one 10-1.
For Anderson it’s his second straight start against the Mariners, whom he shut out for six innings back on the 9th of September … at Oracle … when we were at home.
This was the weirdest Home-Home Series in San Francisco Giants baseball history:
We played four games against the Mariners, all in SF with the Universal DH, and the Home Team for the second two games was on the road. ha!
Let’s Go Giants!
Bust out the Brooms!
Sweep los Marineros into the sea!
