Seymour Returns to Earth, Bivens and ‘Pen Pick Him Up, But Giants Fall Short Giants 3, D’Backs 5

Carson Seymour’s second start was one to forget as he got blown up by the Diamondbacks for six hits and four earned runs in just the first inning and a third.

Spencer Bivens came in, gave up a sacrifice fly that brought in the fourth of Seymour’s runs, and a couple of walks, but then managed the crisis brilliantly. Bivens closed the 2nd and pitched the 3rd, 4th and 5th, giving up only one hit. He struck out four and held the snakes scoreless.

Meanwhile, the D’Backs Eduardo Rodriguez threw four no-hit innings to start this one and remained dominant, giving up just two hits over six and a third.

The Giants preyed on the Snakes’ ‘pen but fell just short, stranding the tying runs in scoring positionn in the bottom of the ninth.

The Giants had risen to a 7.9% chance of making the playoffs. That’ll drop now. I figure we have to win 15 of the last 17.

Let’s Go Giants!
