Intranquilo Camilo is the Problem

The Giants hold the entire season in their hands on this seven game homestand and the road trip that follows it. It’s not an exaggeration.

And I am sorry to say this, but if Camilo Doval blows any of it, he will be the principal reason the Giants don’t make the playoffs.

Camilo has the yips. He’s intranquilo. He and Taylor Rogers have become the two least reliable relievers since we let Luke Jackson go.

I blame management and our terrible media: fuckfinity, NBCSBAYBULLSHIT and KNBWrong – idiots that we are stuck with – who homerishly spent months trying to blow Camilo up with special lighting and huge expectations before he was ever ready.

As well documented here on GBC, I have grown to hate the Giants media coverage. They love the sound of their own voices and catch phrases more than they love the game happening in front of them.

They are the worst glad-handing, non-critical, hat-and-foul-ball watching, lowest baseball denominator coverage in all of baseball. They avoid covering the actual strengths and weaknesses of the team for an always positive-spin mentality that is bad for the players and the game.

Bob Melvin is going to be forced to make some important, savvy, in-game decisions to work around Doval. And NOW is the time it HAS to be done.

The Detroit Tigers are weak and beatable and the Giants should sweep but absolutely must take two, to put us in position to vie for a wild card with the Braves coming to town next.

A sweep of the Tigers and a series win against the Braves is what this is going to take.

The Giants won the series in Atlanta, taking two of three. They have to take three of four against the Braves at home.

Do that, and after the homestand, the G-men have very winnable series, against weak opponents on the road, in The A’s and White Sox.

If the Giants recent hot streak of nine wins in twelve games is to be meaningful, it needs to be exponentially increased by wins during this homestand and the next road trip.

And Camilo Doval needs to either sharpen the fuck up or be replaced with closer by committee.

Let’s Go Giants!
