Carlos Rodón Wins Second Start as a Giant, on the Road, in Cleveland; B-Craw, Bart and Pederson Homer; Giants Beat Guardians 4 -1

This was a good one. It all came down to a meeting on the mound in the seventh. Carlos Rodón, the newest Giants starter, had just gone six and a third innings and maintained a lead the Giants enjoyed because of solo homers by Brandon Crawford and Joc Pederson. Giants 2, Guardians 0.

Rodón gave up a walk to Jose Ramirez and a single to Franmil Reyes. He struck out Amed Rosario looking, in between, which was impressive – that could’ve been RBI. But game-winning runs on board put him in this position for a conversation. This was a test of Rodon. Gabe Kapler came out with one down and runners in the corners, chatted with him and left him in.

After the mound meeting, Rodón looked fierce. He gave up a sac fly to Owen Miller that was shallow enough to score Ramirez, but not to advance Reyes Giants 2, Guardians 1. Rodón ended the inning with a swinging K on three straight sliders to Josh Naylor. It was impressive. I like this guy.

Joey Bart homered in the eighth, scoring Thairo Estrada, Giants 4, Guardians 1

The bullpen, in this case Tyler Rogers and Camilo Doval, closed it out holding Cleveland scoreless.

Giants looked great on the road. This game was all about Carlos Rodón, though, who looks like the clear second starter in the rotation. Good game. Great road win.

Rodón is legit.
