What an INCREDIBLE day at the yard!
Here’s an excellent piece by Maria Guardado over at mlb’s coverage on the weekend series with the Nats and on where the Giants stand today.
Giants 5, Nationals 3
Logan Webb returns. Curt Casali goes yard. Here’s the espn recap.
Giants 10, Nationals 4
I feel different now. Going to the yard and watching a game at last, after a year and a half! It was not just the normalcy, nor the win, nor the feeling of cheering on our Giants again. I felt like the pandemic was, for at least a day, finally over for me, personally. Nonexistent.
I cannot tell you what it meant to me to walk to Oracle Park,
stop at Paulie’s for a bloody mary,
get in line with the 10,000 fans hoping for the 2010 World Series Commemorative tee-shirt;
to go to the Public House for a coupla Fernets and a Racer 5
and to mosey out to the bleachers to hang with the gang of families and fans in center field as we watched DeSclafani throw six strikeouts, hurling three-hit ball over six scoreless innings.
We had a BLAST! Brandon Crawford had three hits including his 18th home run which fell not far from us in the bleachers.
Giants 3, Nationals 1
Kevin Gausman struck out nine and held Washington to four hits as he lowered his ERA to 1.73, second in the majors only to Jacob deGrom. Another Casali homer! Here’s the ESPN recap.
They had all three trophies on display for the 2010 Championship Shirt Giveaway
