The Texas Rangers came into Oracle as one of the hottest teams in baseball but the Giants played national league ball, taking advantage of two critical errors by Charlie Culberson, and managed to win both tight, low-scoring games.
In the first game, Alex Wood was again excellent and Mauricio Dubon had a breakout run-scoring double that got Wood his fourth win. Kapler managed the bench brilliantly to break the 1-1 tie in the 7th. The ‘pen, and particularly Rogers, held. Giants 3, Rangers 1.
In game two, today, Logan Webb was shaky to start, but then great for six innings and the ‘pen held again, with McGee getting his tenth save. Giants 4, Rangers 2.
The Giants look good in advance of their road trip. They have an off day tomorrow to travel and go on the road to Pittsburgh and Cincinatti with DeSclafani, Gausman, Cueto and Wood lined up like an actual rotation!
Cueto is back but was roughed up without a minor league rehab start. Yasztremski is slowly coming back to form but now Brandon Belt had to leave with muscle tightness. We hope to have Alex Dickerson back soon, but the best news is that Donovan Solano could be back by the series in Cincinatti, and will likely be available against the Bums at Oracle next week! Donnie Barrells coming back healthy soon!
Let’s Go Giants!
