A Perfect Storm is Brewing: 18th Straight Game with a Homer, Giants 8, Cardinals 2; Bums and Pads Both Lose

Rafael Devers and Willy Adames went back-to-back yard in St. Louis in the top of the 1st. The Giants’ 18 games in a row with a home run surpasses the SF-era record of 17. The New York Giants once achieved 19 straight games with a home run.

Carson Seymour was brilliant in his first start. The rookie reliever threw four and two-thirds scoreless on 69 pitches. He gave up a run, but stayed cool and got the last out of the 5th with just five more pitches. Seymour’s line: two hits, two Ks and one ER. He left with a 6 – 1 lead.

The Grandson of the Wind had four hits, including his 11th triple. He added an RBI.

The Padres lost in Colorado and the Bums lost in Baltimore, which puts the Giants within striking distance of both teams in the NL West: six back of LA and just two back of the Pads.

Since July 4th, the Dodgers are 22 – 41. They’ve lost five straight and the Pads, four. A perfect storm of momentum-shifting is brewing. Could the Giants take the division?!

ESPN now gives us a 4.2% chance of making the playoffs.

The Mets and Reds won and the D’Backs are up on Boston right now. It feels like six teams are in the race for the wildcard spots and the Giants are the hottest hitting among them right now.

Let’s Gooooo!
