The Third Rule of Small Ball – Seize Advantage of Your Opponents’ Mistakes; Giants 9, Red Sox 5

Back in April, I wrote about the rules of small ball that I expected would be our approach this season.

“One of the crucial rules of small ball, that is often overlooked because it seems obvious, is to take advantage of your opponents’ mistakes.

  1. Play crisp defense. avoid mistakes.
  2. Draw walks, use sacrifices and aggressive base running to apply pressure on opponent to make mistakes.
  3. Take advantage of your opponents’ mistakes.”

Tonight the Giants fought hard to stave off the Boston Red Sox, pressured them into mistakes and took advantage of those mistakes to get the win.

Love it.
