The San Diego Padres chipped and hacked at Logan Webb and were successful at chasing him from his worst start of the year.
Giants bats were hampered by bad umpiring and a crazy strike zone all game, but also Gavin Sheets talked the plate umpire into giving him a base.
Sigh. Randy Rodriguez, The Wall, gave up his first runs of the season after Gavin Sheets was given first on an HBP, by home plate umpire Dan Bellino.

BoMel challenged it, and the entire nation could see it didn’t hit him and MLB let the HBP stand as not enough to overturn.
Look at it. Neither the spin nor the direction of the ball changes. It passes in front of his elbow. His body language belies no impact. He felt the breeze of the ball.

Rodriguez was shaken. He gave up a two-run homer to Xander Bogaerts.
Sad.
It was a good game to that point.
This was Logan Webb ‘s worst start of the season. The Giants bats, other than Willy Adames, were silenced by Nick Pivetta. Adames doubled and homered against him.
We were clawing our way back into it against the Padres vaunted bullpen, but then Gavin Sheets was given the bogus HBP and Rodriguez slipped.
Sigh.
Anyway, I did Play-by-play and called the entire game, here:
