Great game!
Robbie Ray and Tyler Mahle went head to head in another pitchers’ duel. Bruce Bochy and Bob Melvin faced off for the umpteenth time. We celebrated Brandon Crawford pregame.
Ray had eight Ks and gave up two earned runs on five hits. Here’s Maria Guardado’s take.
The Giants scored two runs off Mahle in the 5th, tying the game and allowing Bob Melvin to send Ray back out there. He was excellent.
Tyler Rogers and Ryan Walker held, though Walker was tested.
The game was ended in the bottom of the ninth as Heliot Ramos singled, Adames walked and the pinch-hitting Patrick Bailey came in with RISP and singled on the first pitch to drive in the walk off.
Only took one swing of the bat for Bailey to win this one.
WE WILL HAVE A WINNING RECORD FOR THE GAUNTLET!
The Giants just played sixteen straight days, longest consecutive game stretch of the season, and are 9-7 with one to play.
And the Pads lost … so at least for tonight … guess who’s in first place in the vaunted NL West?

Awesome.
Rubber match with the Rangers tomorrow and then FINALLY…
a day off.
Way to go Giants!
I called the first two innings of this one.
