David Villar doubled. Wilmer Flores collected more RBI, and Christian Koss pitched in this nutty Spring game.
Jordan Hicks is a rollercoaster ride right now. He was once again incredibly uneven, and once again, Bob Melvin left him out there to work it out.
It wasn’t pretty.
The Giants got pounded.
There are clear communication problems with the infield. Tyler Fitzgerald and Willy Adames smashed shoulders going for the same grounder tonight. Neither gave up until the last possible second, when Tyler scooped up the ball and threw it to first (too late) and spat after the throw. Ugly.
Numerous slow grounders hit up the middle either got through or were handled slowly and clunkily.
Hicks isn’t a great defensive pitcher. When he induces so many slow grounders he deserves crisp support.
Things are far from clear in the field between Chapman, Adames and Fitzgerald. Tonight it cost us base runners,.who eventually became runs.
