Cold, Windy Night in Philly Foils Both Starters in 1st; Grandson of the Wind Stays Hot, Wilmer, too; ‘Pen Throws Scoreless Five and a Third; Giants 11, Phillies 4

The Giants beat the Phillies tonight for the 1,284th time, tying the most victories over any opponent with our wins against the Bums.

The Phillies and Giants have been playing since 1883, while our first game with the Bums was 1884. But now we’ve beaten them both 1,284 times. Nice.

It was a weird game in Philly tonight. Both starting pitchers Aaron Nola and Robbie Ray threw 35+ pitches in the 1st. It was nuts.

The Giants scored four off Nola and the Phillies two off Ray, who settled down, but left the game in the 5th with the score tied 4 – 4, having thrown 93 pitches. No-decision.

This was a Spring blowout win that we mustn’t read too much into. But Jung Hoo Lee continues to be a hitting machine. Of course, the Grandson of the Wind was unbothered by the weather in the field and at the plate!

He added another double to his lead of the majors in doubles. He had a sac for another RBI.

Wilmer Flores leads the NL in RBIs and had two more tonight.

Tyler Fitzgerald and Mike Yastrzemski are hitting. Fitzy looks good.

Willy Adames and Matt Chapman, are starting to get warm, and importantly, like the entire lineup, are drawing walks.

The Giants were great on the basepaths tonight, too. They were 6 for 16 RISP tonight. They lead the majors in extending hits to extra-bases. It’s awesome. Small ball.

BoMel looks more and more like the right man for the job.

The bullpen held Philly scoreless for five and a third. Again. They have been GREAT.

Tonight Lou Trivino held two innings brilliantly and Camilo Doval, and Spencer Bevins followed suit and held the line despite having a seven-run cushion.

Nice win.

The Giants are 4-2 to start the Gauntlet of seventeen straight games, eleven of which are on the road.

We look like a pretty good team.
