JV Gets Blown Up for Six, BoMel Leaves Him Out There, Giants Score Four in 6th, Tie Game in 8th: Verlander’s Third ND – Yaz 10th Inning Walk-off Splash Dinger! Giants 8, Reds 6

This was quite an interesting contest. Justin Verlander, who is allowing opposing batters to bat OVER .300 with two strikes thus far this season, was preyed upon by the Reds, who scored five runs in the 3rd.

The Giants got one back when Adames walked to lead off the bottom of the 4th, and Jung Hoo Lee tripled in the RBI. Giants 1, Reds 5.

Bob Melvin left Verlander out there. I approve. It is Spring and Verlander needs to find it. He can’t simulate these at-bats. It definitely feels like opposing teams are reading the once-feared fastball. Especially with two strikes.

But it just got uglier, and JV left the game with the bases loaded and a terrible line.

Lou Trivino allowed one of Verlander’s runs across to make it 6 – 1. That’s when things got interesting.

The Giants exploded for four runs in the bottom of the 6th.

And the bullpen held, brilliantly. Tyler Rogers was perfect. Ryan Walker managed the 9th, and in-between, Wilmer Flores hammered a solo shot on the first pitch of the bottom of the 8th.

Giants 6, Reds 6.

Which proceeded to extras.

Erik Miller held the 10th, despite giving up a deep sac fly to move the zombie runner over to third.

Then Mike Yasztremski hit a walk off splash homer in the bottom of the 10th to win it and Mark the Shark collected it and held it high in the Cove!

Wow!

Giants 8, Reds 6

Let’s go Giants!

Crazy day. Awesome game. So much more to tell. I will be rewriting this later this evening. But wow, the Giants offense AGAIN, made sure.

Justin Verlander’s third start is his third no-decision.
