Opening Day 2025 in Cincy vs. Tito Returned

Happy Opening Day my Giants family!

It has been a while since we had an Opening Day at home hasn’t it?

Nope. It was 2022 and our starter then is the same as today, Logan Webb.

(before ’22 our last opening day at home was 2009).

It is comforting to have Webby on the mound. He is a workhorse and could once again lead the league in innings pitched – as he has done in the two previous seasons, first Giants pitcher to do that since Gaylord Perry.

I also think of him as being like Matt Cain and fear for his run support. Immediately the question turns to Giants hitting.

It was a remarkable Spring Training season. Giants bats started warm, got hot and stayed warm throughout.

The addition of Willy Adames is much welcomed – what an excellent ambassador bilingue he is!

He had two hits right in front of me in Cactus League. They’re posted below. I also filmed the pitch review system! It was pretty quick. (also posted below)

First pitch of the 2025 season is about 20 minutes away.

I predict the Giants will win 88 games and make a play-in for the pennant.

I predict Justin Verlander will win 12 games.

I predict Willy Adames will hit 30 home runs.

I predict the Giants will be aggressively in the running at the trade deadline and will be buyers or standing pat because we’re good.

First pitch is about 15 minutes away.

What else? The Giants will play much better defense this year.

Wilmer Flores will be an impactful influence on Jerar  Encarnacion at DH.

All right, game’s about to start.

Let’s Go Giants!

love,
